Tax Credit Scholarship

The Tax Credit Scholarship is money that people have donated to be used for private education. The donors receive an extra tax credit for donating in this way. The money is donated to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO’s). Donors can request that their donation go into a large pool used for schools all over the state, or to a specific type of school (Catholic, etc.), or even to a specific school.
The application is done online and funds are issued on a first come first serve basis, so it is imperative that you apply the second the application becomes live. You can apply to as many SGO’s as you want. St. Malachy is promoting Empower Illinois and Big Shoulders, as these two SGO’s who work solely with schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
